ABBEVILLE…James Earl “Jimmy” Whitehead, a resident of Abbeville, died Monday afternoon, October 17, 2016, in the Ft. Gaines Health & Rehab.  He was 76.

            No funeral or memorial services are planned at this time. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

            Mr. Whitehead was born in Abbeville and was reared near Columbia, son of the late Earl Moody Whitehead and Evelyn Creel Whitehead. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1957 until 1962. Mr. Whitehead retired as a building contractor in residential construction and moved to the Oakey Grove Community of Henry County in 1967. He was preceded in death by his wives, Hilda Causey Whitehead and Beverly Ann Kiser Whitehead, two sons, Robert Earl Whitehead and James Phillip Whitehead.

            Surviving relatives include a son, Jamie Earl Whitehead (Barbara Shaw), Abbeville; two sisters, Lillian Millett (Rylan) and Serena Coleman, all of Melbourne, FL; a brother, John Whitehead (Diane), Melbourne, FL; two grandchildren, Shannon Whitehead  and Walker Whitehead; two great-grandchildren, Phillip Blake Whitehead and Iris Marie Burks.
