James Herman Ross, (Jimmy), passed away in his home on September 3, 2017, in Geneva, AL due to complications from and extended illness.  He was 85.

Mr. Ross was born on January 3, 1932 in the Oak Grove Community, near Hartford, AL, to his parents, E.C. (Code) and Edna Ross. He grew up in Bonifay, FL and graduated from Holmes County High School. He married Elsie Patterson of Geneva, AL in 1952.

Mr. Ross worked over 30 years with Benson Wholesale Co. and Fleming Companies as a store engineer, responsible for new supermarket setups and remodels. Mr. Ross was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a long time member of Westside Methodist Church in Geneva.

Mr. Ross is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Peggy Ross of Geneva, AL; grandchildren, Misty (Rich) Bixby of Geneva, Kacie (Dennis) Johnson of Geneva; great-grandchildren, Ross Bixby, Ana Beth and Myles Johnson of Geneva; one sister, Margaret Miller of Bonifay, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Elsie Patterson Ross, his parents, E.C. (Code) and Edna Ross and sisters, Sarah Simmons and Mary Brown.

Mr. Ross will be buried with a private graveside ceremony on September 5, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Geneva, with Rev. Gary Miller, a nephew, presiding and Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing.

The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice for their loving Care. Also a special thanks to friends and neighbors, Jim and Felicia Ezell, Russell and Debbie Johnson, Billy and Frances Jordan, and Johnathan Messer for their many acts of kindness and attention.
