James “Jimmy” Eugene McArdle, Jr


Jimmy McArdle age 71 of Ashford died late Thursday night May 10, 2018 in a Dothan hospital after a long illness.


Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday May 13, 2018 at Howard Grove Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. John Smith officiating and Family First Funeral Care directing.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until service time in the church sanctuary.  Serving as active pallbearers will be Eddie Hall, Jr. Gary Hughes, Kyle King, Jack Lawrence, Pat Lawrence and Larry Joe Phillips, Jr.


In lieu of flowers the family ask that contributions be made to Howard Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 5284 South County Road 55, Ashford, AL., 36312.


Mr. McArdle was born in Houston County son of the late James Eugene McArdle, Sr. and Blondell Davis McArdle.  He was raised in Headland and lived there until he joined the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War.  Jimmy returned from the Army and resided in Ashford where he worked as a volunteer with the Ashford ambulance, fire and police departments.  He also worked as an auxiliary with the Houston County Sheriff’s office.  Jimmy was a truck driver and for the last 20 years drove as an owner/operator.


Survivors include his wife of 47 years Frances Ann Phillips McArdle of Ashford, a daughter Cindy Marie Carroll of Ashford, four sisters Barbara (Richard) Schoppmann of Pensacola, Fl. Judy (Jackie) Lawrence of Headland, Pam (Mike) Vinson of Easley, SC, Tami (Mike) Buchan of Headland, and a granddaughter Aubreanna Marie Carroll of Ashford.


The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the kindness shown to them by Kindred Hospice and a special thanks to Linda Campbell and Joanne Decker.
