Mr. James Johnson, 71, of Enterprise, AL, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 28, 2018, after a battle with cancer.


Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Searcy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Snell and Rev. Howard Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home & Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 5 pm until 7 pm.


James was employed for approximately 46 years by Aircraft Support Services at Fort Rucker.  He also served in the US Army Reserve. His life was centered around family and church work.  His favorite pastime included hobby farming, golf and fishing. 


He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev W.B. and Minnie B. Johnson and one infant brother.


He is survived by his wife, Evelyn S. Johnson, (whom he lovingly called “Sweetie”).   The couple has enjoyed 50 wonderful years of marriage.  Also surviving, two brothers, Earl Johnson (Margie), Newton, AL, Rev Paul Johnson (Alida), Jacksonville, FL; nephews, Tony Johnson (Michelle), Dothan, David Johnson, Eufaula; nieces, Paula Steppe (JR), Kentucky, Natalie Tellez (Oscar), Jacksonville, FL; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Liz Thames, Jimmie Stinson, Durl and Mary Ann Anderson all of Chancellor, AL; nieces and nephews, Gwen Cooper (Tony), Beth Trawick (Trent), Ashlee Garner (Clay), Chris Cooper,Taylor Rester, Parker Trawick and Ella Grace Garner.  


The family would like to extend a special Thank You to DaySpring Hospice for their tender care and support during this time.
