James Leon Givens passed away on August 15, 2018. He was 89.


A private graveside service will be held by the Family.


Mr. Givens was born on August 2, 1929 in Miami, Florida. He spent his early years in Miami and moved with his family to Vidalia, Georgia when he was seventeen years old. Mr. Givens served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and then moved to Alabama following his marriage to Wylene Rice Givens. They have lived together in Ashford and Dothan, Alabama since their marriage.


Leon Givens was preceded in death by his parents, John Calvin “J.C.” and Beatrice Moore Givens; and a brother-in-law, Matthew Rice.


Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Wylene Rice Givens; his son, Keith (Carrie) Givens; his daughter, Darlene (Joe) Lane; four grandchildren, John (Jessica) Givens, David Lane, Chase (Sydney) Givens and Kara Lane, three great-grandchildren, John Archer Givens, Jack Jameson Givens, and soon to join us, Cooper Chase Givens; a sister, Lanell (Alfred) Cheek; a brother-in-law, Nathaniel (Brenda) Rice; a sister-in-law, Elrena Rice; four nieces and three nephews.
