Jean Carroll Sessions was born on August 21, 1929, and died October 3, 2017.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Friday, October 6, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Enterprise with Rev. Sonny Moore and Dr. Ben Bowden officiating.  The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall at the church on Friday beginning at 10:30 A.M. and continuing until service time.  In lieu of flowers contributions should be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, PO Box 361767, Birmingham, AL 35236.

She was born in Ozark, the daughter of Samuel Y. Carroll and Frances R. Carroll.  She attended Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery.  After two years at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, in Virginia, she transferred to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1951.

She was most of all a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and, late in life, great-grandmother, but her kindness touched the lives of many more, both in Enterprise and elsewhere.  She participated in many church and community activities, particularly with young people.  She taught GA’s, as well as Sunday School for young women and was a Cub Scout Den Mother.  She took a vital role in founding the Enterprise YMCA.  She wrote thousands of letters of encouragement to all of her family and friends.

On June 16, 1951 she married the absolute love of her life Moultrie Sessions of Enterprise.  They had, and are survived by their four children, Moultrie Sessions Jr. (Karyn); Samuel Y. Sessions (Angie); Frances Carroll Flowers (William) and Susan Sessions Brannum.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Frances Flowers Ennis; Grace Flowers; Miranda Flowers; Will Flowers; Keith Brannum; Jean Brannum; Sarah Brannum and Katie Brannum.  She is survived by one great-granddaughter, Clara Jean Ennis.  Jean and Moultrie were married for 66 years.
