Jerry Starling age 78 of Dothan died unexpectedly Wednesday evening April 25, 2018 in a Dothan hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Memory Hill Cemetery with Pastor Chris Jones of Westgate Church of Christ officiating and Family First Funeral Care directing. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association. Mr. Starling was born in Dothan, Al., son of the late William Earl Starling and Robbie Lois Arnold Starling. Jerry enjoyed a 60-year career as a barber and was owner and operator of Woodland Sebring Barber Shop in Dothan from June 22, 1967 until January 2018. Though Jerry and his wife lived in Panama City, Fl. from 1999 till 2010 he still commuted to his barber shop in Dothan daily. Mr. Starling loved fishing, golf and was a dye hard Auburn fan. Jerry met his wife Joan when they were both young children and both attending the Talladega School for the Deaf. They enjoyed a long life together and 57 ½ years of marriage. Mr. Starling was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife Joan Starling of Dothan, 2 sons Terry Starling of Dothan and Jeffrey (Lisa) Starling of Tallahassee, Fl., a daughter Bonnie (Michael) Edmondson of Leesburg, Ga., a brother Larry Starling of Prescott, AZ and his sister Mary (Ricky) Ball of Dothan, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
