ABBEVILLE. . .Jerry Hayes Wood, a resident of Abbeville, died Sunday night, July 9, 2017, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility. He was 67.

            Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East with Reverend Thomas D. Gamble officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36311.

            Jerry Wood was born and reared in Abbeville. He lived in Abbeville and Phenix City before moving to the nursing home in 2015. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Sam Barron Wood, his mother, Grace Hayes Wilson, his step-father, Doug Wilson, and a brother-in-law, Douglas Riley.

            Surviving relatives include a sister, Vicki Wood Riley, Phenix City; three brothers, John Robert Wood (Peggy), Eufaula; Larry Wood (Loretta); and Bruce Wood, all of Phenix City; several nieces and nephews.
