Jerry Jenkins Early of Samson, AL passed away peacefully on March 15, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Samson First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Earlytown Church of Christ Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Mr. Early was born on February 22, 1934 to the late Tank and Mary Lois Jenkins Early of Samson. He attended Samson High School, Wallace College, and Auburn University. Mr. Early played professional baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals, and later with the US Army while serving in Honolulu, Hawaii. He operated   Early’s T.V. Sales and services in Samson.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Early was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Ann Early Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Crews Early of Samson; one son, Stan (Dee) Early; one daughter, Lea (John) Hornsby all of Dothan; grandchildren, Jenna Elizabeth (Lee) Gantt, Erin Hornsby, and Reagan (Patrick) McGregor; great-grandchildren, Jackson McGregor, Eli Crews Gantt, and Presley McGregor.
