COLUMBIA. . .Jo Ann Dean Staubitz, a resident of Columbia, died Thursday morning, January 4, 2018, at her home. She was 61.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 6, 2018, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend William Irwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Staubitz Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Alacare Hospice, 3379 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36305.


            Jo Ann Staubitz was born and reared in the Chattahoochee/Greensboro area of Gadsden County, Florida, daughter of the late Woodrow Dean and Mary Jackson Dean. She lived in DeFuniak Springs, Florida before moving to Henry County, near Columbia, in 1998. Jo Ann received a degree from Okaloosa Walton Community College as a Certified Nursing Assistant.   She was a member of the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, near Ashford. Jo Ann was preceded in death by a son, Travis Staubitz and two sisters, Mary Dean and Patricia Dean.


            Surviving relatives include her husband, Robert William Staubitz; two sons, Shannon Phillips, and Robert Joseph  (B.J.) Staubitz, both of Columbia; a special daughter-in-law, Kelly Godwin, Kinsey; two sisters, Gloria Allen, DeFuniak Springs; and Teresa Harper, Kiln, Mississippi; a brother, Larry Dean, Mobile, AL; five grandchildren, Ryan Phillips, Robert Staubitz, Shaun Staubitz, Draydon Staubitz and Declan Phillips.
