JOHN DAVID “JOHNNY“ ALLEN

Hayes Funeral Home of Elba, Alabama is serving the Allen family.

John David "Johnny" Allen was born on September 11, 1937 and passed away on May 7, 2018 at the age of 80 at his home in the Victoria Community. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday afternoonMay 9th at Hayes Funeral Home in Elba, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at the Victoria Baptist Church on Thursday May 10th, beginning at 10:00 AM with Rev. Donnie Marler and Rev. Sonny Moore officiating. Committal services will follow in the Victoria Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mack King officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family memorials be made to the Vineyard Christian Retreat, c/o 245 County Road 131, Ariton, Alabama 36311.

     John David Allen "Johnny" worked as a salesman for Elba Packing Company/ Kelley Foods for 42 1/2 years. He was an active member and deacon of the Victoria Baptist Church for many years.

     He is survived by his Wife of 62 years - Virginia Nell Allen, Jack, AL, Daughter - Charlotte Allen (Joel) Smith, Enterprise, AL,  Grandson - Clayton Allen (Rebekah) Eagerton, Cowarts, AL, Grandson - Jacob Tyler (Morgan) Smith, Opp, AL, and Great Granddaughter - Camilla Claire Smith also of Opp, AL. He also leaves behind two Sisters - Effie "Merle" Downing and Lula Bess "Bettye" (Donald) Foley, along with several nephews and one niece.

     Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his son Johnny LaDon Allen along with his parents Aaron and Jennie Allen.
