Joseph Edwin Bowden of Samson, AL passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. He was 81 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Lime Springs United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Ken Taylor and Rev. Brian Simoneaux officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Mr. Bowden was born in Geneva County, AL to the late Charlie Cleveland and Sheppie Horn Bowden. Mr. Bowden was the general manager of Ace Hardware in Santa Rosa Beach, FL for 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cheering on his Auburn Tigers. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. In his spare time he enjoyed camping and spending time with his wife and boys.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Bowden.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Vickye Spivey Bowden of Samson; five sons, Mike Bowden (Gina) of Chancellor, Mark Bowden (Lisa) of Millbrook, AL, Alan Bowden (Tanya) of Enterprise, Paul Bowden (Anne) of Hope Hull, AL, and Chris Bowden of Samson; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Sally Lancaster (George) of Dothan.
