HEADLAND…Juanita Brannon Carter, a resident of Headland, died early Monday morning, August 6, 2018, at her home. She was 96.

  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 9, 2018, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Misty Barrett officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive family and friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the mortuary.

  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Headland United Methodist Church “Building Fund”, 103 West King Street, Headland, AL 36345 or to Covenant Care, 1512 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301.

  Mrs. Carter was a native of the Center Community of Henry County and moved with her family to Headland as a child. She was the daughter of the late Henry Grady Brannon and Mary Frances Trawick Brannon. She was a member of the Headland United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Charlie Burdeshaw Sunday School Class. Mrs. Carter was retired as a Bookkeeper from Wex-Tex Manufacturing Company in Headland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Norman Carter, and a brother, Edward Taylor Brannon.

  Surviving relatives include four daughters; Paula Carter, Milton, FL; Reida Kay Wilson, Headland; Kathy Barnett (Burt), Troy, AL; Jeffrie Turner, Headland; seven grandchildren; Gilbert Medina. Jr. (Leigh Ann), Doug Medina (Laurel), Mandy Thomas (Andy), Brandon Wilson, April Wilson, Katie Woodham (Ronnie) and Reid Turner; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Linda Smith.

  The family would like to express their appreciation to caregivers, Hattie Jones and Patricia Jones and also to Covenant Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Carter during her illness.

  Serving as active pallbearers will be Gilbert Medina, Jr,  Doug Medina, Ryan Medina, Brandon Wilson, Reid Turner and Chad Smith.
