HEADLAND…Judy Mixon Carr, a resident of Headland, died Wednesday afternoon, January 9, 2019, in a Dothan hospital. She was 73.

     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 12, 2019, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church of Headland with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. and Reverend Norman C. Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.

     Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1626 Springhill Avenue, Mobile, AL 36604, or to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

     Mrs. Carr was born and reared in Henry County, near Newville, daughter of the late David Clarence Mixon and Gladys Royals Mixon. She lived in Pensacola, FL and Andalusia before returning to Headland in 1982. Mrs. Carr was formerly employed by Parker Furniture in Headland and Arnold’s Furniture in Abbeville. In earlier years, she served as Town Clerk in Red Level, AL. Mrs. Carr was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen McLain and Martha Ann Golden.

     Surviving relatives include her husband, William Kenneth Carr; a daughter, Ashley Carr Edson (Randy), Andalusia; a son, Kenneth Todd Carr, Headland; two sisters, Mable Massey (Jerome) and Treta Lee, all of Headland; four grandchildren, Lindsey Carroll (Tanner), Astin Carr, Emily Skipper (Kenny), and Ethan Edson; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Carr, Kynlee Carroll and Cadyn Carroll.

     Serving as active pallbearers will be Brad Lee, Steve Bailey, Joe Woods, Chad Scott, Trey Whatley and Steve Whatley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Danny Parker and Wayne Skeen.
