ABBEVILLE. . .Judy Sewell Wilson, a resident of Abbeville, died early Tuesday morning, July 18, 2017, at her home. She was 71.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M Thursday, July 20, 2017, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend S. E. Newberry officiating and a eulogy to be given by Joshua Towns. Burial will follow in the Pilgrim Rest Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Relay For Life, c/o American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36311.


            Judy Wilson was born in Blue Springs, Alabama and was reared near Headland, daughter of the late Thomas Morris Sewell, Jr. and Nora Ruth Key Sewell. She was a 1965 graduate of Headland High School. Judy attended Wallace Community College and received a B.S. Degree and Master’s Degree in Education both from Troy University.  She retired as an English teacher from the Houston County High School in Columbia. Judy lived in the Pilgrim Rest Community of Henry County for the past forty-three years. She was a member of the Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pamela Sue Sewell and Inez Sewell Hagler and nephews, Ronald Bane and Joshua Bane.


            Surviving relatives include her husband, Roy Wilson, a son, Greg Wilson, Abbeville; a sister, Glenda Woodham (Mac), Headland; several nieces and nephews including special nieces, Lisa Towns, Amanda Woodham and Tiffany Bane and special nephews, Norman Hagler (Kendra) and Brandon Bane (Anna); special grandchildren, Jaylin McCraney, Liah McCraney, Jordyn McCraney, Kynleigh Bryant, Natalie Smith, and Makenna Smith.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Jody Knight, Ken Knight, Rogelio Enriquez, Joshua Towns, Caleb Towns and Norman Hagler.
