MIDLAND CITY. . .Junior “Red” Smith, a resident of Midland City, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at his home. He was 82.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 14, 2017, in the Holman Headland Mortuary Chapel with Chaplain Jody Haddan officiating. Burial will follow in the Midland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary.

            Mr. Smith was born in Ash County, North Carolina and was reared in Wausau, Florida, son of the late Willie Clifton Smith and Merica Register Smith. He lived in the Dothan and Midland City area all of his adult life. Mr. Smith was retired as a foreman from the Howell Plywood Corporation in Dothan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Hitson Smith, a son, Ronald Joe Smith, a sister, Irene Smith, and a daughter-in-law, Diane Smith.

            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Rose Childree, Midland City; and Teresa Melvin (Donnie), Dothan; three sons, Billy Smith (Judi), Eufaula; Johnny Smith (Jessica), and Jimmy Smith, all of Midland City; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
