WEBB…Kathryn Nell Hinson King, a longtime resident of Webb, Alabama and more recently of Headland, died late Monday night, October 8, 2018, at her home. She was 91.
Funeral services will be held in the Webb United Methodist Church, Highway 52 East in Webb, Alabama Friday, October 12, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Joe Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Webb United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 143, Webb, AL 36376, or to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mrs. King was born in Plant City, Florida and moved at an early age to Webb, Alabama. She completed high school at Houston County High School in Columbia, Alabama and attended what is now the University of Montevallo.
She was an active member of the Webb United Methodist Church having served as a Sunday School teacher for over sixty years and Chairperson of the Administrative Board. She served as Secretary and President of the Dothan District United Methodist Women and Membership Chairperson of the Alabama/West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Women. She also served as President of the Webb Jr. High School PTA.
Mrs. King had an undying love for Webb United Methodist Church and her family. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she treasured being involved in their various activities. She was a faithful homemaker who enjoyed reading, cooking, needlepoint, crafts, holiday decorating, shopping, traveling and Alabama football.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward King; an infant daughter; her parents, Brown and Susie Raley Hinson; brothers, Ray Hinson, and infant twin brothers, Willie and Wilburn Hinson.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Kathy King Lanford (Billy), Columbia; her son, Jimmy King (Cornelia), Headland; her grandchildren, Kimberlin King, Knoxville, TN; Keely Mims (Chris), Dothan; Kaira King (Michael Catenacci), Birmingham; Keary King (Ariadna), Dothan; and Karla Chastain (Jeff), Auburn. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Hinson (Sara); and a sister-in-law, Hazel Hinson.
Kindred Hospice has truly been a Godsend during this time, with special gratitude to Karen Kelly. To other important members of our family, caregivers Ruth Lawrence, Rebecca Murry, Janet Kinsey, Brenda Williams and Kimberly Roberts, we thank you and love you.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Johnny King, Halcot Hasty, Keary King, Davis Mims, Jacob Shelton, Chris Mims, Jeff Chastain and Mike Catenacci.
