Leo Collis Strickland, Jr., age 64 of Headland passed away early Tuesday morning, June 12, 2018 at his home under the care of Kindred Hospice and with his family by his side, following an extended illness.


Leo had requested cremation and Family First Funeral Care has been given the honor of assisting the family with arranging for a simple cremation.


Leo was born September 20, 1953 in Black to the late Leo Collis Strickland, Sr. and Ester Joslyn Strickland. He lived in Thomasville, GA for many years before moving to Headland 13 years ago. He was a farmer and worked for Brad Johnson Hay Farm, in addition to doing mechanic work. Leo greatly enjoyed the outdoors and fishing, but nothing compared to the time he enjoyed spending with his grandchildren.


In addition to his father, Leo is preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Burns. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Faye Strickland of Headland; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Leo (Dooley) Strickland of Thompson, GA, Bobby (BJ) Strickland of Headland, Matthew Strickland of Thompson, GA and Leo (Bubba) Phillips and his wife, Jamie of Headland; three daughters and two sons-in-law, April (Billy) McCoy of Thompson, GA, Connie Strickland of Headland and Tabatha (Odell) Lane of Campbellton, FL; his mother and step-father, Ester and Jerry Stevenson of Covington, GA; three brothers, C.L. Strickland of Milledgeville, GA, Kenneth Strickland of Moultrie, GA and Richard Strickland of Moultrie, GA; seven sisters, Marion Strickland of Moultrie, GA, Carol Brown of Moultrie, GA, Gladys Kiauol of Covington, GA, Nancy Strickland of Moultrie, GA; Tammy Burns of Covington, GA, Carole Burns of Covington, GA and Wanda Burns of Covington, GA; 14 grandchildren, to include a very special grandson, James Cook; one great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
