Mr. Lewis Alvin “Bill” Williams, age 86, of Dothan passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018.


 


Born February 21, 1931 in Dothan to the late Lewis Alvin Williams, Sr. and Esther Schulman Williams, Bill was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Bill and his wife Yvonne were instrumental in beginning the single ministry at Calvary and was a part of the Builder’s Guild at Calvary. Bill was also a member of Toastmasters and he and Yvonne will be remembered as the Duke and Duchess of Chestnut Ridge. Bill’s favorite pastime was meeting the needs of his family members.


 


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Williams Hill; his grandson, Jonathan William Hardy; and his brother, Larry Williams.


 


Bill is survived by his wife, Yvonne Williams of Dothan; his daughter, Stacey (Kevin) Hardy of Anderson, SC; his son, Mike (Ann) Williams of Dothan; his brother Norman (Bobbie) Williams; his grandchildren, Mitch (Sarah) Williams, Josh (Courtney) Hardy, Kelli (Glen) Potter, Lauren (Jonathan) Herrmann, and Ryan (Emily) Segers; his great-grandchildren, Owen Williams, Seraphine Hardy, Joshua Hardy, Jane Potter, Rivers Potter, Egan Segers, and Aleena Segers; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


 


Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Woody Farrington officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM 10:45 AM at the funeral home.


 


Active pallbearers will be Mitch Williams, Josh Hardy, Ryan Segers, Chris Williams, Glen Potter, and Jonathan Herrmann. Honorary pallbearers will be the Remer Braswell Sunday School Class.


 


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Respite Care FUMC, 1380 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301 or Kindred Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303.
