Lucille Bojorquez Sherman passed away in her sleep in the early morning of August 24, 2017 at William F. Green Veterans Administration State Home in Bay Minette, Alabama.


A memorial service for family and friends will be held at Searcy Funeral Home, 1301 Neal Metcalf Road, Enterprise Alabama 36330, 2 p.m., Monday August 28 with Father Zachary Greenwell officiating.


Lucille was born February 10, 1932 in Hollister, California. The daughter of first-generation immigrants, Lucille grew up in a farming family and enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) at a time when men and women still served separately in the U.S. Armed Forces. She married Robert (Bob) Wayne Sherman in August of 1953. The couple gave birth to three sons, Michael, Robert, and Patrick. Lucille had a life-long passion for music. In addition to running a family band, The Shermans, Lucille was organist/pianist for multiple churches in and around the Fort Rucker/Daleville/Enterprise area for the better part of four decades, and accompanied countless weddings, funerals, baptisms and christenings. In addition to being a mother and a musician, Lucille worked as a civil servant for the 1st Aviation Brigade at Fort Rucker, Alabama for more than 20 years.


She is preceded by her husband of 54 years, Robert Wayne Sherman who passed November 14, 2007, and son, Michael Wayne Sherman who passed February 2, 2015.


She is survived by her son Robert and wife Ann, son Patrick and wife Cathy, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and beloved family members.
