Lucille Long Whitaker, a resident of Dothan, AL died January 12, 2017 at Extendicare, Dothan, AL after a brief illness at the age of 89. She was born August 28, 1927 and was the eight in a family of thirteen children.

Graveside services will be held at Memory Hill Cemetery with Reverend Doug Seale officiating on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM with burial to follow with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

The Family requests no flowers and memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 8790 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL 36117-8848 or a church of your church in Mrs. Whitaker’s name.

Mrs. Whitaker’s was born and reared in Webb, Alabama; daughter of the late Charlie William Long and Ollie Estelle Hinson Long. She was a graduate of Houston County High School. She lived over 40 years in the Theodore/Mobile, AL area and returned to Dothan upon her retirement from Constantine Restaurant

She was preceded in death by her husband John F. Whitaker; five sisters, Cora Lee Chambers, Perry B. Newton, Eunice Squires, Nell Eubanks and Annie Long and six brothers: Dayton Long, Carl Long, Euell Long, Marvin Long, Walter Long and Curtis Long.

Surviving relatives include a brother, Hubert Long, Dothan, AL; three sisters-in-law, Christine Long (Euell) Webb, AL; Hattie Long Wells (Walter) and husband Bobby, Dothan, AL; and Norma Jean Long (Curtis), Fadette, AL; numerous nieces and nephews.
