OZARK. . .Lynda Faison Henderson Whatley, a resident of Ozark, formerly of Headland, died early Sunday morning, June 4, 2017. She was 73.

            Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 6, 2017, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan, with Brother Ronnie Dobbs officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Suicide Prevention, (In Memory of Leon P. Henderson, Sr.), 23 Willie Varnum Road, Dothan, AL 36301.

            Mrs. Whatley was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and was reared in Mobile, daughter of the late Grady Faison and Marth Elaine Morgan Faison. She lived in Headland most of her lifetime before moving to Ozark in April 2016. Mrs. Whatley was a graduate of Baker High School in Mobile and received a degree in Postal Finance & Accounting from Wallace Community College. She was retired as Postmaster of the Gordon Post Office and was employed most of her working life in the Dothan and Gordon Post offices. Mrs. Whatley was preceded in death by her husbands, Leon P. Henderson, Sr. and James Hershel Whatley, a son, Wesley Grady Henderson, Sr., a grandson, Trey Henderson, and a brother, John Larry Faison.

            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Lee-Anne Henderson Taylor (Stacy), Ozark; two sons, Leon Preston Henderson, Jr., Ozark; and James L. Henderson, Dothan; a step-daughter, Donna Whatley Luscier, Ft. Myers, FL; three step-sons, John Whatley (Mary), Webb, AL; Tony Whatley (Jeannie), Dothan; and Jimmy Whatley (Tammy), Abbeville; a sister, Lois Graham, Mobile, AL; five grandchildren, Pate Snell, Cameron Henderson, Benjamin Henderson, Wesley Henderson, Jr. and Anna Henderson; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
