Marcia Wall Smith Stowers was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 1, 2018 following a long battle with Leukemia/lymphoma. She was born on January 28, 1951 and was 67 years old.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Woody Farrington officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2 p.m.

Marcia was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dothan with Pastor Paul Thompson as Senior Pastor. She was also a member of the Eddie Barrentine Life Connection group and loved attending Bible lessons, Christmas socials, and monthly class fellowships. She also enjoyed participating in Sonshine senior adult group activities to include Bible Study, travel, and socials directed by Patty Farrington who is now retired. Marcia’s favorite past time was spending time with her family and friends, especially the grandkids, traveling, and telling others about her walk with the Lord and how much Jesus loves them.

Marcia was salutatorian of her high school graduating class. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Troy State University majoring in General Business and graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors. Marcia retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH after working in civil service for 31 years. She retired as a Contract Specialist, but worked many years at Fort Rucker, AL in the Equal Employment Opportunity Office.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and a nephew, all from Tennessee and Kentucky.

She is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Keith A. Stowers; her son, Dr. Jeremy Smith (Christi); a daughter, Dr. Brandy Dunn (Matthew); her grandchildren, Connor Smith, Ella Smith, Allie Dunn, Colby Smith, and Abbie Dunn; Marcia was blessed to have a blended family, a step-daughter, Stacy Becker; a step-son, Steven Stowers (Momilani); and step grandchildren, Alex Stowers, Reagan Stowers, Riley Stowers, and Lily Becker. Marcia is also survived by her three brothers, Robert Wall (Beverly), Larry Steve Wall (Teresa), and her twin brother, Marvin Wall (Becky). She was also blessed with many nephews, nieces, and great and great-great nephews and nieces.

The Eddie Barrentine Life Connection group will serve as honorary pallbearers. Men from that class will serve as active pallbearers.

Heartfelt appreciation goes out to Dr. M. Scott McAllister and his staff at the Dothan Hematology and Oncology group for their loving and professional care while going through this 11 year struggle with leukemia/lymphoma. Our family also would like to thank the Kindred Hospice for their loving care during these final days.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the mission fund at Calvary Baptist Church, 901 Montezuma Ave., Dothan, AL 36303 or the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36111.
