Margery Scott, 91, a longtime resident of Dothan, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Extendicare Health and Rehab Facility following a lengthy illness.

She was one of the brave, courageous women of our Greatest Generation of the WWII era that married American GIs and came to America, leaving their families behind.  There will never be another generation like theirs:  “The English War Bride”.

Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Father Peter Wong officiating and Kendall Glover directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to service time.

Mrs. Scott was born September 23, 1926 in Blackpool, England to John and Mary Carrington. 

 She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Paul Scott; son, Jay Scott; two sisters, Dorothy Brough Panter and Irene Smith.

She is survived by two daughters, Laura Scott-Adkins (David) of Dothan, AL and Linda Scott Hennerbichler (Ingo) of Panama City Beach FL; two grandchildren, Kevin Scott, Atlanta, GA and Geoffrey Scott (Julia) of DeLand, FL; two great-great grandchildren, Elska Scott and Signy Scott.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Extendicare for their love and caring for her.  It is a very special facility.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P O box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302 or the Music Program at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, 205 Holly Lane, Dothan, AL, 36301.
