Margie Belle Kennedy, a resident of Columbia passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at a local hospital. She was 63.


Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, November 20, 2016 in Columbia City Cemetery with Brother Rollin Rathel officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-2 pm at the graveside.


Mrs. Kennedy was born on October 15, 1953 in Colquitt, Georgia and lived the early years of her life in Miller County. She was employed as a seamstress before working at the Farley Nuclear Plant and later at Vogtle Power Plant in Waynesboro, Georgia for several years. Mrs. Kennedy loved helping people and had a big heart.


Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Decima Whitaker, and by her brother, Roger Whitaker.


Survivors include her daughters, Becky (Tracy) Duke and Lynn Williams; her grandchildren, Jayson (Hannah) Parsons, Kaylee Parsons, Alicia Parsons, Dyllan Garrett, Alea Williams, Sammy Abdullah, Brianna Duke, Kimberly Murphy, Bailey and Brantley Worthington; her 2 brothers, Warrena (Wanda) Whitaker and Jimmy (Evelyn) Whitaker; her sisters, Shirley (Rayford) Lloyd, Betty Dean, Pam (Gary) Hurst, and Joan Rathel; and her beloved dog, Maggie.
