EDWIN COMMUNITY. . .Martha Brown Rhymes, a resident of the Edwin Community of Henry County, died Saturday morning, November 11, 2017, at her home. She was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 14, 2017, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Sister Barbara Cross and Reverend Clyde Hancock, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary.
Mrs. Rhymes was born and reared in Lakeport, Florida, daughter of the late Avant Brown and Mary Jane Bryant Brown. She moved to the Edwin Community in 1973 where she was affiliated with the Church of Abbeville. While a resident of Lakeport, Florida, Mrs. Rhymes drove a school bus for the Moore Haven City School System. She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Olen “Mutt” Rhymes; a daughter, Vickie Barnette (Earl), Eufaula; two sons, Chuck Rhymes, Lakeport, FL; and Timmy Rhymes (Bonnie), Moore Haven, FL; a brother, Kenneth Brown, Lakeport, FL; nine grandchildren, Samantha Rhymes, LaCasta Rhymes, Darren Sanchez, Jennifer Brinson, Josh Rhymes, Chelsey Thigpen, Brittany Scott, T. C. Barnette, and Kathryn Jones; numerous great-grandchildren.
