Mary Etta (Yvonne) Phillips Johnson of the Piney Grove Community, Samson, AL passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Flowers Hospital at the age of 81. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Piney Grove Baptist Church in the Piney Grove Community north of Samson with Bro. Danny Branch and John H. Howell,Jr (Brother Jay) officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends prior to the service Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
 
Mrs. Johnson was born March 10, 1936 in Piney Grove, Geneva County, Alabama to the late James Dallas Phillips and Myrtie Lee Baine Phillips.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Raymond Johnson; two grandsons, Robert Jeffrey Davis and Zachary Ethan Johnson; two brothers, Meridian Phillips, Glenn Bill Phillips; and sister, Shirley Phillips Chambless.
She was known for the best southern old time home cooking.  Many of Hollis' and Billy's hunting and fishing friends enjoyed her biscuits, gravy and the fish and game they brought in.

She is survived by her three children, Earl Johnson, Sr.(Martha), Jonnie Jordan (Paul), and Billy Johnson; four grandchildren, Earl Johnson, Jr.(Kay), Joe Johnson, Lynn Nelson, Michael Davis (Tabitha) and Amber Johnson; eleven great grandchildren; Trey Johnson, Troy Johnson, Shannon Lolley, Matt Stevenson, Courtney Nelson, Kaitlyn Nelson and Haley Nelson; Gabriel Davis, Peyton Davis, Addison Davis and Nadia Davis; two great-great grandchildren, Hunter Johnson and Dawson Johnson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed.
