Ms. Mary Jo Pate Shelley, age 87, died Wednesday May 17, 2017 at her residence after an extended illness.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 20, 2017 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Grantham and Reverend Michael Senn officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.


The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to the services in the chapel.  Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Food Bank, Brown Bag Program, 382 Twitchell Road, Dothan, AL, 36303.


Mary Jo was born February 5, 1930 in Houston County, AL, the daughter of James Rufus and Cassie Lee Seaborne Pate.  She was a 1948 graduate of Dothan High School.  Mary Jo was a homemaker all her life and a life-long member of First Christian Church of Dothan. 


Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, a brother James Rufus Pate, Jr. and a sister Hilda Powell.


Survivors include: son, Mark Shelley, Wicksburg; 2 daughters, Kenna Harper, and Susan Love, Dothan; 7 grandchildren, Beth Bean, Ray (Heather) Harper, Jeffery Shelley, Joseph (Yvonne) Love, Chad (Tracy) Harper, Christopher Love, and Kenneth (Kara) Harper; 14 great-grandchildren.


Pallbearers will be Ray Harper, Chad Harper, Kenneth Harper, Jeffery Shelley, Beth Bean and Elijah Harper.  Honarary pallbearers are Joseph Love and Chris Love.
