Mary Katherine Harris Capron, a resident of Dothan, AL passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at her residence after a brief illness. She was 88.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Flowers will be accepted.

Katherine was born August 18, 1929 in Slocomb, AL to Henry Grady and Mary Celester “Lessie” Dean Harris. She was a graduate of Slocomb High School and attended the University of Alabama. In 1960, she married John Capron of West Warick, RI. John served in the U.S. Air Force and they traveled exstensively spending time in Italy, England, Hong Kong and Holland. Upon retirement, they returned to Dothan, AL and resided until their deaths. She was of Baptist faith, and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she will be greatly missed.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband John Capron, parents and a brother, Grady Lamar Harris.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Ann Bumgardner, grandchildren, Wendy Bumgardner Fellows, David (Shannon) Bumgardner, and Brad (Heather) Bumgardner all of Dothan; great-grandchildren, Matthew (Morgan) Fellows of Ashford, currently with the U.S. Marines, Myles Fellows of Ashford, Macy Fellows of Ashford, Max Bumgardner, Evie and McCartney of Dothan; brothers, Steve (Judy) Harris and David (Rachel) Harris of Slocomb, Jerry F. (Liz) Harris of Abbeville; sisters, Willa Dean “Corky” Schulman of Birmingham and Era Jo (Eddie) Holmes of Slocomb and many nieces and nephews.
