Mary Lolley Toole born February 14, 1932, formerly of Enterprise, Eufaula, Dothan and most recently Birmingham, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 6th after a long illness.


 


Mary spent several years as a housewife and Mother before returning to school to earn an accounting degree from Sparks Technical School in Eufaula.  She later earned an Associates Degree from George C. Wallace State Community College in Dothan and a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama.  In 1985 she earned a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama. She chose to complete her field placement in Washington DC in the office of then Senator Claude Pepper.  She worked diligently with this office toward the advancement of protection and adequate healthcare for the elderly.  Upon completion of her MSW, she continued to work with the Department of Human Resources providing services for the children and families of Alabama until her retirement.


 


Mary was preceded in death by her husband: DeVaughn Toole, her parents: John Charles Lolley and Georgia L. Money Lolley, her siblings Buford Lolley, Earl Lolley, Rueben Lolley, Robert Lolley and Pauline Lolley.


 


She is survived by her three children: John William Toole (Brenda Quick Toole), Jerry L. Toole (Susan Walters Toole) and Cindy Toole Holmes (Robert J. Holmes, deceased).  She has five grandchildren: Brandy Toole Rixey (Adam Rixey), Brittany Carol Toole, Devon Elizabeth Holmes, Randolph DeVaughn Toole and John Russell Toole (Stephanie Broughton Toole). She has three great-grandchildren: Barret Reese Rixey, Maison Olivia Rixey and Ava Grace Toole.


 


Visitation will be held at Ward Wilson Funeral Home in Dothan on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 1:00 pm with funeral service at 2:00 pm.  Burial will be at Memory Hill Cemetery.


 


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
