Matthew Thomas Brown, a resident of Dothan passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 at his residence. He was 28 years old.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Forest Lero officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Matthew was born March 27, 1990 in Mobile, AL and lived the early part of his life there. He moved to Dothan in 2001 and was a 2008 graduate of Dothan High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was a part of Operation Enduring Freedom during the Afghanistan War. He was honorably discharged in 2012 and returned to Dothan. Following his military service, he was placed on staff with the Department of Veterans Affairs working with offices in Tuskegee and Auburn. Matthew was very patriotic and loved his country. He enjoyed fishing, weight lifting, playing guitar, and was a tattoo fanatic and a diehard Alabama Fan.

Survivors include his parents, Carla Coe Brown and Michael Thomas Brown; brother, Jacob Brown; grandmother, Linda Coe; aunt, Sharon (David) Simmons; uncles, Patrick (Jennifer) Coe and Jerel (Mary) Brown; cousins, Brantley Simmons, Bailee Simmons, Emma Coe, and Carlie Coe; a special friend, Kelsey Gorman; his K-9 companion, Jax. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl Coe and Thomas and Evelyn Brown.
