Maxine S. Adkison of Samson passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016.  She was 84.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Sister Wynese Lolley, officiating.  Burial will follow at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Geneva on Saturday, beginning at 10:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 2151 Highland Ave. S Suite 210, Birmingham, AL 35205.


Mrs. Adkison was born in Coffee County, AL on April 22, 1932, to the late Charlie and Sallie Mae Spicer.  She was a seamstress prior to her retirement making dresses and other clothing at her home.   She was also an accomplished artist.  Preceding her in death were her husband, Brake D. Adkison; brother, Rubin Spicer; sister, Agnes Broxton; and her beloved cat, Fluffy.


She is survived by her son, Larry Adkison (Rita), Geneva, AL; granddaughter, Ginger L. Lee (Anthony); two great-granddaughters, Emma Kate Lee and Elizabeth Grace Lee, Slocomb, AL; step-granddaughters, Rona Hutchison (Ryan), and their son, Roman Hutchison, Chattanooga, TN and Amy Brackin (Ricky), and their children, Carson and Emma Brackin, Geneva; and her beloved grand-dog, Chelsea.  The family would like to offer a special thank you and express its appreciation to Joyce White for her kind and tender care.
