TUMBLETON COMMUNITY. .  .Miriam Arnold Shelley, a resident of the Tumbleton Community, of Henry County, died Wednesday morning, May 31, 2017, in a Dothan Hospital. She was 79.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 3, 2017, in the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Joey Pettis and Andrew Baril officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o David Teat, 10033 County Road 47, Shorterville, AL 36373.

            Mrs. Shelley was born and reared in Headland, daughter of the late Randall Houston Arnold and Irelle Hodges Arnold. She was a 1956 graduate of Headland High School. Mrs. Shelley was an active member of the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church. She was formerly employed by SouthTrust Bank in Headland. Mrs. Shelley was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Arnold, and three brothers, Gerald Arnold, Mack Arnold, and Jimmy Arnold.

            Survivors include her husband, Tommy Gene “Tom” Shelley; a daughter, Amy Baril (Andrew), Childersburg, AL; a son, Kevin Shelley (Pat), Spokane, WA; two sisters, Brenda Jones (Jerry), and Debbie Gamble (Bill), all of Headland; a brother, Emory Arnold (Wylene), Dothan; two sisters-in-law, Mary Nell Arnold, and Martha Arnold; four grandchildren, Hannah Lansdon (Ryan), Jessica Baril, Sarah Jordan (Seth), and Griff Shelley (Christi); four great-grandchildren, Laken Lansdon, Remy Lansdon, Eli Jordan, and Hope Jordan, and one great-grandson, Silas Jordan on the way.
