Molly Ray Whittington, a resident of Enterprise, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 83.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 2 pm at Hamer Church of God in Hamer, South Carolina with Rev. Jim Whittington and Pastor Joey Nelms officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2 on Saturday.


Mrs. Whittington was born on December 7, 1934 in Plymouth, North Carolina and lived there her early years. She moved to Portsmouth, Virginia and lived there for over 25 years before moving to Rowland, North Carolina following her husband’s retirement in 1983. In August 2017 she moved to Enterprise, Alabama. She was a homemaker and very active member of Hamer Church of God in Hamer, South Carolina. Molly volunteered in the gift shop at the medical center in Dillion, South Carolina for several years.


Molly was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Whittington; a brother, Harold Phelps; and a sister, Mattie Haislip.


Survivors include her children, Geoff “Horace” (Carol) Whittington and Cynthia Nelson; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her sister, Irene Sawyer.
