Morris Wayne Locke passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at Westside Terrace in Dothan at the age of 83.


Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Tim Willis and Chaplain Wayne Krist officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until service time.  Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Stephens, Dale Stephens, James Gang, Cleve Kirkland. Honorary pallbearers will be George Caldwell and Jim Henry.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Cancer Society or Alzheimers Association.


Morris served in the US Air Force as a firefighter and recruiter for 25 years.  He was a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran.  He worked in Fire Prevention at Ft. Rucker, AL for another 21 years.  He was a member of the Dothan National Panama Canal Zone golf team for many years.  All of his life, he was a hard-core “Roll Tide” Alabama fan, sportsman and talented craftsman and often restored cars for resale.  He was of the Baptist denomination.


He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Jean Locke, Joyce Orr and a brother, Marvin Neal Locke, and also by his first wife and mother of his children, Elaine Blue.


He leaves to cherish his love and memories, his wife, Jessie Ballard Locke; his son, Dwayne “DC” Locke (Jocelyn), Columbia, SC; daughters, Marissa Kirkland (Cleve), Headland, AL and Stephanie Ballard Gang, Dothan, AL; sister-in-law, Martha Blue Thetford (Harry), Greensboro, NC; brother-in-law, John G. Stephens (Elaine), Bay Springs, MS; grandchildren, Lillyann Watkins, Jessica Watkins, Tehya-lani Locke, James Gang, John Parker Gang, J. C. Kirkland, Jakin Kirkland; several nieces and nephews.


The family would like to thank Dr. Frank Crockett and staff at West Main Medical Center; Dr. Lattimer and staff of 5NMICU at Flowers Hospital and 6th Floor Nursing staff.  Also Kindred Hospice, Dr. Burgess and the staff at Westside Terrace Nursing Home.  May God Bless all of you.
