Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL

Mr. A J “Buddy” Chancey, 78, of Ozark, died Saturday morning, March 24, 2018.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 27, 2018, from Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with Reverend Larry Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Monday evening from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.

Mr. Chancey was born February 16, 1940 in Dale County, Alabama to the late A. G. Chancey and Donna Louise Willis Chancey. He served in the United States Army National Guard.  He worked with Civil Service at Fort Rucker for thirty-five years until his retirement and was a volunteer fire fighter in Ozark for over twenty-five years.  Mr. Chancey was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Ozark.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Richard.

Survivors include three daughters, Melanie Dee Carter and Tommy Sizemore of Slocomb; Melanie and Rusty Smith of Jackson, Mississippi, and Pamela Chancey; four sons, Jeff Chancey of Skipperville, Todd and Trish Chancey of Midland City, Trai Chancey of Ozark, Bobby (Skipper) and Connie Fables of Mellow Valley, Alabama; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Billy Miller, Shannon and Mike Gill all of Ozark; brother-in-law, Thomas Richard of Ozark. Eight grandchildren also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mr. Quincey Sullivant, 2926 Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
