Charles Leroy Knowlton, Jr. “Shorty”, a resident of Midland City, Alabama died Sunday, April 16, 2017 at his residence. He was 86.


Memorial services will be held at a later date.


Mr. Knowlton moved to Midland City 10 years ago from Portville, NY. He was a self-employed contractor who loved lawn work and small engine repair. Mr. Knowlton was fond of family gathering and 4 wheeling with his family.


Mr. Knowlton is preceded in death by his parents; Charles L. Knowlton Sr. and Lauretta Shirey Knowlton; wife, Virginia Lou Cariner Knowlton; two daughters, Kathy Smith and Molly Boswell; sister, Aretta Newton and a brother, William Knowlton.


Survivors include his children, Lauretta (Coy) Richardson, Elba, AL, Charles (Connie) Knowlton III, Bolivar, NY, Linda (Terry) Lowe, Midland City, AL, Gary (Bonnie) Knowlton, Allegany, NY, David (Jessica) Knowlton, Midland City, AL, Sally (Kevin) Nutt, Cuba, NY, Terri (Roy) Rogers, Allegany, NY, Mary (Walt), Vaughn, Little Genesee, NY, Beverly (Scott) Drum, Freeville, NY; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mickey Learn and Sharon Burlingame.
