Mr. Douglas (Doug) Evans, 74 of Ozark, returned to his heavenly home on October 26, 2017.  A celebration of his life, and our love for Doug, will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 30, 2017 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, Clio, AL with Rev. Harold Peters and Pastor Scott Moffitt officiating.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday in the church one hour prior to service time.


Douglas was born May 1, 1943 in Barbour County, Alabama to the late Emmett Evans and Velar Wilkerson Evans.  He attended school in Clio, AL. and went to work with the family timber business and later formed his own carpet and flooring business earning the recognition of being “One Of The Best In The Wiregrass.”


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Etha B. Doster; one brother, Melvin Evans; and a stepson, Dennis Johnson; two brother-in-laws, James Doster and Kenneth Baker; and three step grandchildren.


Survivors include his wife of thirty-one years, Eva Sanders Evans, Ozark; two sons, Allen Evans (Kim), Kevin Evans, both of Ozark; two special granddaughters, Baylie Evans and Laylie Evans, both of Ozark; Three stepdaughters, Heather Ambers (Doug’s special caregiver), Ozark, Lisa Norris, Camden, AL, Barbara Bader, South Carolina; two stepsons, Bobby Johnson, Panama City, FL., and Greg Johnson, Memphis, TN.; and seven step grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Evans (Inez), Clio, and Gerald Evans (Hazel), of Ariton; five sisters, Sara Overstreet (Joe), of Ozark, Joyce Wright (Gary), of Prattville, Jeanette Baker, Ariton, Shirley Hyatt (Johnny), of Ozark, Kay Robertson, Ariton; one very special aunt, Flora Aldape, Montgomery; a very special sister-in-law, Mary Williams, Ohio, and very special friend, Reba Enfinger, Echo.


Doug’s greatest companion was his puppy, Buffey.  Their Saturdays consisted of curling up together and watching Alabama football with a Do Not Disturb posted.


God, we want to thank you for loaning Doug to us for 74 years and now we give him back to you to take care of.
