Emmett Clyde Dixon of Geneva passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018. He was 78 years old.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with the Reverend Dr. Edwin Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Home Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

 In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to Geneva First Baptist Church 309 S. Commerce St. Geneva, Al 36340

 Mr. Dixon was born in Geneva County, AL on April 13, 1940 to the late Arthur Clyde and Annie Laura Coleman Dixon. Emmett served 30 years with the National Guard, and over 20 years as a chicken farmer. Emmett’s greatest achievement and challenge occurred when he married Jan in 1989 and took on raising three teenagers. His greatest challenges became our greatest reward.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Jan Parrish Dixon of Geneva; one daughter, Kerri Shirah (Anthony) of Chancellor; two sons, Ben Griffin (Dawn) of Geneva, and Glen Griffin (Heather) of Chancellor; six grandchildren, Spencer Griffin, Corey Galloway, Chase Griffin, Mason McCormick, Tucker Hendrix, and Shelby Griffin; three great-grandchildren, Rhett Griffin, Branton McCormick, and Joseph Bedsole; two cousins, Tony Coleman of Eufaula, and Sue Barbaree of Elba.
