Mr. Gilbert W. (Pete) Knight, age 82, a resident of Dothan passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at the SAMC.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Danny Arnold, Reverend Stephanie Cox officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.  At all other time the family will be at the residence.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Greystone Methodist Church, 4401 Fortner St, Dothan, AL, 36305.

Mr. Knight was born February 13, 1935 in Butler County, Alabama, the son of the late Gilbert L. Knight and Allie Dendy Knight. He was a graduate of Dothan High School and later joined the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired from General Telephone as a technician in the central office after 35 years. Mr. Knight was a member of Greystone Methodist Church, formally known as Lafayette Street UMC. He also was an avid Alabama football fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Hodges Knight, his parents and a brother-in-law, Earl Golden.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy Knight Morrow of Dothan, AL; sister, Jean Golden, Dothan, AL; a niece, Kaye (Roger) Golden Barrett, Niceville, FL; and a special grand puppy Shih Tzu, Beau.
