Mr. James Andrew Bowman, age 81, a resident of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the SAMC, after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Memphis Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Glenn officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.

The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Sunday prior to the services at Memphis Baptist Church.  Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Memphis Baptist Church Building Fund, 4595 Eddins Road, Dothan, AL, 36301.

Mr. Bowman was born on March 25, 1936, in Dale County, AL the son of Daniel McNeal Bowman and Amanda Gray Bowman.  Mr. Bowman was a 1957 graduate of Rehobeth High School and attended Wallace College.  Mr. Bowman founded James Bowman Realty and James Bowman Associates Insurance 44 years ago.  He was a member of Memphis Baptist Church and a past Deacon at Memphis Baptist Church and Grandview Baptist Church.  Mr. Bowman coached little league baseball and was a board member of Dothan Leisure Services for 32 years.  He was a member of the Dothan Association of Realtor’s until his retirement.  Mr. Bowman served as a sharp shooter rifleman in the U.S. Army for 2 years and the Army Reserve for 4 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters and 9 brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Dale Bowman of Dothan; 2 sons, James Dwayne Bowman (Sandra Leah) of Dothan and Devin Andrew Bowman (Jennifer) of Roswell, GA; 1 brother Louie Mack Bowman (Shirley) of Dothan; 5 grandchildren, Tyler Bowman (Kayley), Trey Bowman (Catherine), Anna Corbin (Nick), Andrew Bowman and Geri Bowman; and his special dog “Muffin”.

Active pall bearers will be: Tyler Bowman, Trey Bowman, Nick Corbin, Andrew Bowman, Bobby Bowman and Steve Bowman.
