Mr. Jerry Don Ard, Sr., age 75, a resident of Dothan, died Sunday January 1, 2017 at the home of a son following an extended illness.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday January 4, 2017 at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Troy West officiating and Kendall Glover directing.

The family will be receiving friends from 9:15 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Wednesday prior to services at Glover Funeral Home Chapel.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 2700 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL. 36303.

Mr. Ard was born on July 15, 1941 in Houston County the son of Clifford Durwood Ard and Martha Lurine Tice Ard.  He worked with his father in early years with C.D. and Jerry Ard Plumbing and in 1972 he started his business Jerry Ard Plumbing and Electric.  Mr. Ard served in the National Guard and attended several churches in the area.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Robert Ard and infant Edward Ard.

Survivors include: daughter, Jenny Carpenter (Larry Watford), Dothan; 2 sons, Don Ard (Paula) and James Ard (Kaleigh) both of Dothan; 2 step-daughters, Kim Riley and Amy Prather (Jimmy) both of Dothan; 2 step-sons, Berkley Shirah (Cynthia), Mobile and Chris Shirah, Dothan; 2 brothers, Jimmy Ard (Vivian) and Durwood Ard, both of Wicksburg; 2 sisters, Mary Hicks (Tom), Compass Lake, FL.; Martha Robinson (Kelly), Donalsonville, GA.; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Staff of Gentiva Hospice for their love and care.
