Mr. Joseph William Hatcher of Dothan passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  He was 88.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Geneva, AL with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, beginning at Noon.


Mr. Hatcher was born in Geneva County, AL on November 6, 1928, to the late Isaac Henry and Lillie Mae Hatcher.  Prior to his retirement, he was a salesman in the meat packing industry for many years.  In his pastime, Mr. Hatcher loved to fish and enjoyed watching sports on TV.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie K. Hatcher; and all eight of his siblings.  He was the last of his generation.


He is survived by his son, Greg Hatcher of Delray Beach, FL; daughter, Gwen Parrish (Wayne) of Port St. Joe, FL; grandson, Jason Hathaway (Laura); three great-grandchildren, Blake, Adam and Joshua Hathaway, all of Stafford, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
