Kenneth Max Johnson, Jr. of Columbia, Alabama passed away on July 20, 2017.  He was 44 years old.


Memorial Services will be held at Ward Wilson Funeral Home at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 with Kathleen Jones officiating with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 – 12:00 PM on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.


Kenneth graduated from Houston County High School in 1991 and furthered his education at Wallace College, pursuing a career in welding.  Kenneth was certified as an Underwater Welder through Ocean Corporation and spent several years traveling the world performing jobs that most people can’t even imagine.  He enjoyed sports, fishing, fast boats, traveling and being with friends. 


Kenneth loved his family and loved spending time with his children, Shelby Lynn and James (Jim) David.   He loved to laugh, and everyone loved seeing his smile.  His children brought him much joy and laughter.


Kenneth is preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Norma Goodson, and grandfather, Maxwell Thornell Johnson.


He is survived by the mother of his children, Phyllis Johnson of Headland, AL; parents, Norma and Ray Nowlin of Ashford, AL; father, Kenneth and Robyn Johnson of Talkeetna, Alaska; Grandmother, Mary Frances Fontenot of Dothan, AL; daughter,  Shelby Lynn Johnson of Headland, AL; son, James (Jim) David Johnson of Headland, AL; sister Julie Richardson (Bobby) of Headland, AL; Brothers, Matthew Bryan (Kellan) of Ashford, AL; Zachary Bryan of Ashford, AL, and Joshua Bryan of Ashford, AL. and several nieces and nephews.


In lieu of flowers contributions can be made towards a college fund for his children Shelby and James Johnson, in care of Norma Nowlin, 107 3rd Ave., Ashford, AL, 36312.
