Louie Hurshel McDuffie, age 95, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018, in Geneva County, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Samson with Pastor Chris Venkler officiating.  Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Panama City, Florida with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends at the church at 9 a.m. Donations may be made to the Samson Senior Citizen Center or to a charity of your choice.

 

Hurshel enjoyed the good food and friends he had at the Samson Senior Citizen Center. He brought joy, love, and humor to his family and friends.

 

Hurshel was born to the late Reuben McDuffie and Lizzie Kilpatrick McDuffie on January 3, 1923 in Samson, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Civil Davis McDuffie, daughter Monica McDuffie Venkler; and wife Reba Howell McDuffie.

 

He is survived by his grandson, Chris Venkler (Carlie); great grandchildren, Aubrey Venkler Reaves (Chase) and Michael Venkler; three sisters, Foy Childs, Cumi Whigham, Erika Hutto (Mickey); one brother Howard McDuffie; and beloved family friends, Theresa Spivey and Ken Howell.
