Norman John Nobles, a resident of Jakin, Georgia died Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, Alabama surrounded by his loving family. He was 82


Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2PM EST, Friday, March 1, 2019 at Jakin Baptist Church with Reverend Byron Dekle, Reverend Zeth Smith and Bill Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1PM to 2PM EST at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mr. Nobles honor to Jakin Baptist Church P.O. Box 45 Jakin, Georgia 39861.


Norman was born to the late John and Ethel Brownlee Nobles. Owned and operated Nobles Grocery until 1965 and later became Jakin Discount Grocery in 1993. He was a license auto dealer and rebuilder for 50 years beginning in 1969. Served as deacon at Jakin Baptist Church since 1985. Elected mayor of Jakin in 1978 and served for 14 years thru 1992.


Mr. Nobles is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Janette Nobles and his parents.


Survivors include a son, Greg Nobles (Gayla); two daughters, Norma Cannon (Victor) and Shari Culver (Harvey); one sister, Rossie Adams (Bill); four grandchildren, Rylee and Jenna Nobles, Casey Cannon (Amy), and Codie Stough (Phillip); three great grandchildren, Cassie, Sabrina, and Courtney Cannon. Numerous other relatives and many friends.
