Mr. Otis Sellers of Samson, AL passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was 85.


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with the Rev. Elbert Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. and continuing until service time.


Mr. Sellers was born on January 25, 1931 in Coffee County, AL to the George Washington “Bud” and Claudine Harrison Sellers. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Nadine Mock Worley and Cubie Dean Hickman; two brothers, Leon and John L. Sellers.


Mr. Sellers owned and operated his own plumbing and electrical business for many years in Samson. He faithfully served as a deacon at Piney Grove Baptist Church. He, being an accomplished carpenter, along with fellow deacons helped build additions to the church as well as the House of Lydia. He was known for his helping hand and generous spirit.  Mr. Otis loved to fish and tell a good joke.  Mr. Otis proudly served his country in the US Army having served in Okinawa, Japan.  


He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Dorothy Jean Farris Sellers of Samson, AL; two daughters, Barbara Jean Mock (Eddie) of Coffee Springs, AL and Alice Faye Sellers Brewer of Samson, AL; one son, Billy Gene Sellers of Samson, AL; four grandchildren, Christie Lynn Mock Nemeth (Peter) of Enterprise, AL, Christopher Chad Mock of Coffee Springs, AL, Evan Ross Brewer of Samson, AL and Miranda Brewer Lambert (Jason) of Samson, AL; two great grandchildren, Lexi and Lani Lambert of Samson, AL; one sister Ozell Davis (R.A) of the Holly Store Community; one brother Archie Sellers of Joliet, IL; and several nieces and nephews.


The family would like to thank Mr. Sellers special caregivers, Miranda Lambert, Pamela Grissett, Shirley Reeves and Trina Mock
