Mr. Virgil Junior Simmons, age 83, a resident of Pansey, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Simmons was born in Houston County, AL on December 29, 1934, the son of Oliver and Delia Fenell Simmons in Houston County, AL.  He worked as a forklift operator for Lykes Brothers in Plant City, FL for 46 years and was of Baptist faith.  Mr. Simmons served 3 years in the U. S. Army as a paratrooper.

Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Franklin D. Simmons.

Survivors include his two sons, Timothy D. Simmons (Elizabeth) of Pansey and Kenneth V. Simmons of Dalton, GA; one daughter Betty Joe Mack of Taylor; one sister LeAllen Appling (Earl) of Dothan; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
