Obituary:  Mr. William "Bobby" Peel


 


Mr. William "Bobby" Peel of Slocomb passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 at his home.  He was 71. 


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Slocomb with Rev. Dicky McAllister officiating.  Interment will follow in the Slocomb City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. 


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Bobby's memory with your charitable contributions to the American Cancer Society, 2346 W. Main Street, Suite 3 Dothan, AL 36301 or to the Geneva Baptist Association, Christ's Helping Hands Ministry, 710 Dothan Hwy. Hartford, AL 36344. 


Mr. Peel was born February 2, 1945 in Houston County to the late William Paul Peel and Mary Stephens Peel. Bobby was the co owner of Peel's Grocery in Slocomb and was privileged to work alongside his family for over 26 years.  He was a great provider and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son and brother who will be profoundly missed. 


Survivors include his childhood sweetheart and wife of 51 years, Sandra McAllister Peel, Slocomb; daughters: Kim Peel Woodham (Terry) and Kay Peel Battle (Donald) both of Slocomb; son, Bart Peel (Misty), Odenville; grandchildren: Courtney Maertens (Jason), Alyssa Shiver (Micah), Garrett Woodham, Amy Woodham, Julia Peel and Ruby Peel; great grandchildren: Bryant Battle, Tristan Maertens and Kadon Shiver; mother, Mary Stephens Peel, Dothan; sister, Dianne Tew, Slocomb; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.


Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Hagler, Dwight Tew, Randall Lee, Al McCray, Roy Harris, Phil Singletary, and Garrett Woodham.


The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of Gentiva Hospice for the love and care that was so freely given to Bobby during his illness.
