Betty Palmer Jeffries, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Noland Hospital at Southeast Health. She was 88.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Jeffries will be held at 2 PM Thursday, March 14, 2019 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Dr. Ricky Plummer and Reverend Bob Zbinden officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 5 PM until 7 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to: Bethel Christian Academy, 3257 East Cottonwood Road, Dothan, AL 36301.

 

Mrs. Jeffries was born May 2, 1930 in Dothan, Alabama to the late George and Bernice Davis Palmer and was a 1949 graduate of Dothan High School. She worked for General Telephone and then began a career teaching piano to numerous students in the Dothan area. Mrs. Jeffries also had a love for buying and selling antiques. Mrs. Jeffries was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church where she was a choir member, pianist and Sunday School teacher. Currently, she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

 

Mrs. Jeffries is preceded in death by her husband, Frank N. Jeffries and five sisters, Nell Davis, Narrell Benefield, Eloise Scott, Elwin Gunnels and Fanchion Crosby; son in law, Lee Kelly.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Terri Kelly; two brothers, Warren Palmer, George and Sara Palmer, Jr, several nieces and nephews.
